Motion & doorbell alerts

Get a notification when a camera sees motion or someone rings the doorbell, with a snapshot when one is available and a button that opens the camera live.

In the iPhone app, open Settings.

It’s the third tab, after Cameras and Activity.

Turn on Motion & Doorbell Alerts.

When iOS asks, allow notifications. If you see Allow Notifications in Settings, notifications were turned off for the app earlier. Tap it and switch them on in iOS Settings.

What an alert looks like

The title names the event and the camera, like Motion — Garage, with a snapshot when one is available. Tap View Live to open that camera’s live view. Alerts arrive even when the app is closed.

On your Apple Watch

Your watch shows alerts the way it shows any iPhone notification: when your iPhone is locked and the watch is on your wrist. View Live opens the camera on the watch.

One switch for all cameras. Alerts are on or off for every camera together. To quiet one camera, change its motion settings in the Ring app. Ring only sends us the events it detects.
